Jody Butera, Principal


Jody is a life-long Arizonan from Tucson and finds anything below 75 degrees too cold, thus explaining the sweater-dense wardrobe of a Chief Financial Officer living in the desert.

Logical and analytical by nature, Jody is a creative problem solver and is known for getting things done.  She brings a rare combination of technical competence, strategic focus and inspiring leadership.    Her talent and solid background in financial and operational areas of complex organizations is highly adaptable to the needs of any size business and industry.

Jody landed in the health care industry by taking a risk early in her career.   She has served in Medicaid and Medicare health plans, a private insurance start-up, academic medicine and private practice oncology, as well as a stint in outpatient dialysis services.  

Jody began her career as a financial auditor working with a variety of clients including school districts and community colleges.   Her understanding of business process and procedure was solidified early on, giving her a unique perspective when analyzing the efficiency and cost/benefit of a company’s way of doing business.  In her work, Jody brings strategic focus and forward thinking to the goals and tasks at hand. 

In her current practice, Jody serves a variety of industries ranging from pharmaceutical research and development to manufacturing and distribution to software as a service to insurance, and companies of varying sizes from start-up through growth mode, as Principal of Pinnell Consulting, LLC.   The unique name of Jody’s practice is thanks to her great grandmother on her father’s side, Donnie Pinnell, who was inspiring, gentle and a tough lady, all at the same time.    Jody serves her clients in numerous capacities including but not limited to project manager, Strategic CFO, operations change agent, business development leader;  the list is not short, but Jody’s goal is to close the gap and remove the pain points for her clients.

Jody is graduate of the University of Arizona and a die-hard Wildcat fan.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double major in Accounting and Finance.  She received her Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix.  Jody is a certified public accountant in Arizona.    She serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and the National Association of Women Business Owners.
